Sunbeam Smiles

I'm the Sunbeam teacher this year at church. This means, for 2009, I'm with the youngest bunch of all: the 3-4 year olds. Day one, closing prayer by 3-year-old girl:

Dear Heav'ly Father
Thank you for the purple polka dots.

Indeed.
***
Also: I'm on to you, "Superstars of Dance."
Also, part deux: In the battle between Indian corn (festive fall decor still gracing the bowl on my bookshelf) and puppies, the score-- Puppies, 1 (as in one gigantic mess to come home to tonight); Indian corn, 0 (as in zero kernels left on the actual cob, zero husk left, zero existence in bowl as of today.)
In the battle between puppies and Nintendo DS games errantly left within puppy reach by virtue of the fact that puppies have now made pretty much everything within their reach, the score-- Puppies, 2 (as in Pac Man and Mario Kart), DS games, 0.
Instant replay:
Me: What is all this stuff on the floor?
Puppies: Weloveyouweloveyou! We're so glad you're home! We're wagging our whole bodies!
Me: What are these? Seeds? What do we have that has millions of seeds that they could've gotten? Is this popcorn?
Puppies: Come here immediately so we can explore your nasal cavities with our tongues.
Ian: I'll get the vacuum.
Me: What's this? A microchip? Uh-oh... they ate technology.
Ian: AGH! The DS games! And it's PAC MAN?! Not cool, puppies.
Puppies: While you're cleaning you can watch us poop on the floor! There's corn in it.

What's worse, children or puppies? You might have me beat on this one. Funny though, for me, not you I'm sure!

I'm teaching the same class at church. The kids kicked my butt yesterday! Kids 6, teacher 0. I lost one kid when we took a break to get a drink. As you're preparing your lesson each week (I'm assuming you, unlike me, prepare -- which is probably my problem) please send any and all ideas my way! How do I entertain 6 three-year-olds for that long? The lesson holds their attention for 3-5 minutes, crayons of 5, a game for 2. Help! (And, yes, the questioner is the one with two three-year-olds in the class.)

Not the DS! That's to bad. So cute about the purple poka dots. I love that kids are thankful for the small things in life, it really makes you want to be like them and notic things like poka dots. Hey where going to the beach on St. because the weather is going to be good, like 68-70! We have friends going like the conroys and others, do you want to go? Call me if you do we are doing luch there and I'm sure hot dogs will be involved.

Pacman AND MarioKart? YIPERS. They must have been wagging their little bodies pretty hard to make that anger go away.
My goal is to move to Monterey by 2010 so that Lucas can be in your sunbeam class. Best Sunbeam class ever.
