Thank Goodness It’s Not Monday! Starting the work week on a Tuesday is a blessed thing, I must declare. It’s just a hop, skip, and a jump to Wednesday, the mid-week reprieve that begins the downward slope to Thursday’s pre-Friday bliss. Holiday weekends mean no Sunday night blues, no Monday morning sleep deprivation-induced nausea, and no 5 full days of work to dread. Yippee!
The weekend was chock full of fun with Ben, Julie, Kate, James, Tara, Dave, Baby C, and other visiting family too numerous to list. But our houseguests, the McAdams, were splendid. It was so fun to see the twins, now 19 months, walking and talking and letting their unique personalities shine. James loves balls; kicking them, throwing them, catching them… He can’t get enough. Methinks the McAdams have a little McAthlete on their hands. (Up at 5:30 every morning, James clearly has the drive and stamina for those early morning practice sessions.) And little rocker-tailed Kate is such a sweetheart! (I call the little pig tails that stand straight up “rocker-tails” because they’re so punk rock.) Still preferring to sign rather than “use her words,” Kate pats her tummy for “please” and “thank you” and gyrates with a full-body nod for “yes” that seems to start in her hips and end in her neck with a bobbled movement that cracks me up just thinking about it. She remembers to share everything with James, likes to cuddle her blanket, and has an insatiable sweet tooth (our cupcakes were a big hit, every time.) It’s so weird to think back to that day, not so long ago, when they both fit in one tiny baby basket and weighed less than the average Chipotle burrito.
Baby C is here for the week and I can’t get enough. She’s the perfect baby age—not mobile, but not floppy; she’s just squishy goodness and sweet-smelling and smiley and gabby with gurgles. Even her cries are unobtrusive and mellow… Like she’s not really that mad.
Other people’s kids are awesome! I will really miss them when they’re all gone… Minus the 5:30am wake up calls, of course.

Great weekend.
So fun for parents to see their kids through your loving and perceptive eyes. I want you to write Luc's journal - ok?
PS - you've got me craving a Chipotle Burrito in UT...thanks.
So fun, so sad to miss it. It made me miss you all. Guess we'll see Dave, Tara, & Baby C when they get back to NYC.. the rest of you will have to be seen another time. At least there is your blog to keep us up on what's happening with you on the west coast.
So fun to see everyone! And I probably won't even recognize James and Kate next time we see them! I think this means that it's time for a Johnston baby on the way! :)
